About the Project

“Bridging Generations Through Emotional Intelligence” is an Erasmus+ project that combats age discrimination through an intergenerational reconnection approach.
The starting point is a reality that is often overlooked: ageism and youngism—discrimination against older people and young people, respectively—limit opportunities for mutual understanding and affect the mental health of both groups. The project addresses this challenge by creating spaces for shared learning and the exchange of experiences, which strengthen communities and rebuild social ties between generations.

Objectives

Educating older adults about youngism and young people about ageism, to promote mutual understanding and respect between generations.

Improving mental health and developing emotional intelligence among both seniors and young people, with the aim of combating age discrimination.

Building stronger intergenerational bonds through gamification and the sharing of experiences, with the aim of encouraging collaboration and mutual learning.

Raising awareness of age discrimination by addressing it as a major social challenge at the European level.

What We Do in the Project

  • We conduct national research—surveys and focus groups with young people (ages 18–29) and seniors (65+)—to identify the real needs and challenges of intergenerational relationships
  • We are developing a training program consisting of 12 theoretical modules on age discrimination, aimed at both young people and seniors
  • We are creating a toolkit with 24 practical emotional intelligence tools for intrapersonal and interpersonal empowerment
  • We are developing a digital game based on mutual learning and the exchange of experiences between generations
  • We organize transnational meetings and dissemination events to share the results with communities across Europe
